Hello. May I ask what are the job opportunities of your course when you graduate.

Job opportunities? There are actually a lot. In my case, I have already tried working for a productions company where I was always tasked to manage the company web site. I also wrote several scripts for presentations and productions—though that is sort of Mass Comm-ish work. But I guess the CW part comes when you are developing the script because you have to come up with something catchy, unique, but substantial. Apart from that, I also accept some editing jobs. People also approach me for consultancy when they have papers. And now, I am working in a private detective agency for which I write reports, letters, press releases, and many more. I am also thinking of working for magazines and advertising agencies in the future and yeah, my ultimate dream is to teach.

Hello! I have read your blog and I loved how you write. Anyway, I'm an incoming senior in Paranaque Science High School. and I'm planning to take the UPCAT this August and put up CW as my main. May I ask if the course is difficult or fun, and I would greatly appreciate tips for passing the UPCAT. Thank you :D

Hi! Thanks. I feel so happy whenever someone tells me that he/she likes the way I write because as a Creative Writing major, I sometimes doubt about my skills. You know, being around with professors who are award winners and well-renowned is really a big challenge and sometimes even a threat to the self-esteem. I am not discouraging you, though. Although those professors are like monsters sometimes (there are moments when it is really hard to satisfy or impress them and they always find shortcomings in your works), you will surely learn from them and through their style, you will be a fearless writer—someone who can take even the harshest comments when you go out of the university. Anyway, CW is hard according to many. Apart from the hard writing subjects, there are also a lot of reading classes included in the curriculum. And you have to choose three main genres of concentration. But for me, it is more of fun. Maybe because it is really my passion and in fact, all this time, I just feel like playing. But of course, there are really moments when I feel like hell. I think, it is still up to you. No matter how hard it is, if you really love what you’re doing, it would not feel like work at all. :)

Regarding UPCAT, well, I think you better prepare. UP was not my dream university and it just happened that I ended up being here. It was not really planned. But I have also learned that it is best to prepare for it. It is better than being sorry. If you can take review classes, go! And yes, comprehension, logic, and common sense are necessary. And yes, pray. :)
